Baptismal Certificates and Songs for the Bridal March

Called up the Parish of Sto. Domingo today to inquire about the requirements of getting a baptismal certificate. I need this as one of the requirements for my confirmation and this is also one of the church’s (Parish of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the church where we’re going to get married) requirement for our canonical interview on August 4. I used to think that I don’t need to get one anymore as I already have my original baptismal certificate, but what the church needs is a recent copy of it with the annotation “For Marriage Purposes Only” (This is for both the bride and the groom). Anyway, I also need it for my confirmation (the certificate of which is also a requirement for the canonical interview, by the way. And also with annotation “For Marriage Purposes Only” ). Are you still with me? ;-)

Anyway, for those who were baptized at the Parish of Sto. Domingo, QC, and are getting married, heads up guys, here’s what you need to bring:

a. An ID

b. Your original baptismal certificate. They will not get this from you. You just need to present this so they could see the Baptismal Registry Number, page and the date when you were baptized. This is so they could easily search for your file. If you do not have your original baptismal certificate with you, you just need to know the exact date when you were baptized.

c. You have to pay a fee of Php 50.00

You will be able to get the certificate daw right away. For more inquiries, you may contact the Parish of Sto. Domingo, Quezon City at numbers: (632) 743-7756. I’ll tell you more about it when I get my baptismal certificate sometime during the last week of June. :-)

For other wedding stuff, I am now considering a few songs for my bridal march. Do tell me what you think is nice, or if you have other songs in mind, tell me about it also okay? :-) Here are the songs that I like so far:

a. The Prayer

b. Panunumpa by Carol Banawa
Ikaw lamang ang pangakong mahalin,
Sa sumpang saiyo magpakailanpaman
Yakapin mo’ng bawat sandali
Ang buhay kong sumpang sayo lamang alay…

Ikaw ang syang pagibig ko
Asahan mo ang katapatan ko
Kahit ang puso ko’y nalulumbay
Mananatiling ikaw parin

c. Ikaw

Ngayo’t kailanma’y ikaw

d. Land of the Loving (can also be used for first dance).

6 Months to Go!

I was just going about my day, relaxing and stuff, and then it hit me, BAM! 6 months to go before D-day! So I got down and got busy. :) I made a pre-wedding suppliers rating today. Prepared na din space for our suppliers rating :) Also I sort of drafted na a schedule of wedding details na kailangan gawin from June to December. Grabe so many things need to be done. Hope I would be able to do them all. :)

I called up Parish of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary (Twin Hearts) today. We have schedule na for our Canonical Interview. We'll be having it on August 4, 2004! So I guess I'd better prepare na for my Confirmation and get busy na getting my Baptismal Certificate. Things are certainly moving, naexcite nanaman ako sa preps ;-)

MARBLES

The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable.

A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the kitchen with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the morning paper in the other. What began as a typical Saturday morning turned into one of those lessons that life seems to hand you from time to time. Let me tell you about it.

I turned the volume up on my radio in order to listen to a Saturday morning talk show. I heard an older sounding chap with a golden voice. You know the kind, he sounded like he should be in the broadcasting business himself. He was talking about "a thousand marbles" to someone named "Tom." I was intrigued and sat down to listen to what he had to say.

"Well, Tom, it sure sounds like you're busy with your job. I'm sure they pay you well but it's a shame you have to be away from home and your family so much. Hard to believe a young fellow should have to work sixty or seventy hours a week to make ends meet. Too bad you missed your daughter's dance recital."

He continued, "Let me tell you something Tom, something that has helped me keep a good perspective on my own priorities." And that's when he began to explain his theory of a "thousand marbles."

"You see, I sat down one day and did a little arithmetic. The average person lives about seventy-five years. I know, some live more and some live less, but on average, folks live about seventy-five years."

"Now then, I multiplied 75 times 52 and I came up with 3900 which is the number of Saturdays that the average person has in their entire lifetime. Now stick with me Tom, I'm getting to the important part."

"It took me until I was fifty-five years old to think about all this in any detail," he went on, "and by that time I had lived through over twenty-eight hundred Saturdays.
I got to thinking that if I lived to be seventy-five, I only had about a thousand of them left to enjoy."

"So I went to a toy store and bought every single marble they had. I ended up having to visit three toy stores to get 1000 marbles. I took them home and put them inside a large, clear plastic container right here in my workshop next to the radio. Every Saturday since then, I have taken one marble out and thrown it away."

"I found that by watching the marbles diminish, I focused more on the really important things in life. There is nothing like watching your time on this earth run out to help get your priorities straight."

"Now let me tell you one last thing before I sign-off with you and take my lovely wife out for breakfast. This morning, I took the very last marble out of the container.
I figure if I make it until next Saturday then God has blessed me with a little extra time to be with my loved ones......

"It was nice to talk to you Tom, I hope you spend more time with your loved ones,
and I hope to meet you again someday. Have a good morning!"

You could have heard a pin drop when he finished. Even the show's moderator didn't have anything to say for a few moments. I guess he gave us all a lot to think about.
I had planned to do some work that morning, then go to the gym. Instead, I went upstairs and woke my wife up with a kiss. "C'mon honey, I'm taking you and the kids to breakfast."

"What brought this on?" she asked with a smile. "Oh, nothing special," I said. "It has just been a long time since we spent a Saturday together with the kids. Hey, can we stop at a toy store while we're out? I need to buy some marbles."

This was sent by a friend (Thanks to Mrs. Juliet Mindanao-Bautista, )and it got my mind cogs whirl. You see, sometimes we just tend to let life pass us by. We worry too much about the non-essentials of life that we forget to look closely at what's really important. I know because most of the time I am like that. But here's what I realized: Life isn't about what-to-wear or what-car-am-i-driving..it's about family, the love and bond you share, the friendships you make and keep, life is all about the journey. So enjoy the ride! Let God, the master driver take the wheel and just enjoy the ride, remember He knows which ways are best, let go and let God! (which would really apply best for our wedding plans ;) ) Have a great day everyone! :)

Still on the guest list and some crisis.

Well last Sunday was fun, Jasper and I got busy doing our guest list, and guess what, we now have a total of 138 guests sans our parents list! So, back to the old drawing board!

I'm not into the wedding preparations these days. We are having a financial crisis right now that's threatening our wedding plans (again! =( ). Good thing I have Jasper, he always knows how to put me back on my feet.

The Guest list nightmare and some non-wedding news ;-)

Started my wedding guest list and ohmigoodness! My guests reached to around almost a hundred! That does not include my mom and dad's list, Jasper's and his family's list! And to think that our maximum planned guest list was at 150! So it's true what they say, the nearer the day comes the bigger the list grows! Oh well, time to re-check the list.

For my non-wedding news, my baby kitkat (a shih-tzu what were you thinking? =P ), gave birth (well in doggy term "whelped") 5 adorable puppies at 6:00AM today, June 6! :-)
