The Last Straw

It's been awhile since my last blog. Thank you to everyone who came back and checked on updates despite my long hibernation from blogging. I apologize for not updating sooner.
Things have been hectic on the career front. Two weeks ago I found out that the call center I was working in was not remitting the SSS premiums and witholding taxes that they deduct from our salary. This was the last straw. From the moment we started taking calls, people were very rude to us newbies. From the fun and welcoming atmosphere of training, we were literally thrown into a jungle filled with wolves. From day 1, people from "ops" were nasty and condescending to new hires. We were not given our new headsets immediately, instead we were asked to go to workforce everyday to borrow a headset that has no foams. The headsets gave our ears the look of a very ripe tomato so you can just imagine how we felt (Oh, we were given our own headsets after a month of taking calls with tomato-colored ears). I decided to stick it out thinking that no company was perfect. Plus, I remember the training department told us that if we had perfect attendance and above average performance statistics, we can be promoted in as little as 2 months. So armed with that motivating thought, I plunged into the sea of calls and did the best I could. In a week, my team leader showed me my stats and told me I had the highest in our team. But after that nothing. No motivation, whatsoever. Log sheets were late which affected our productivity. She showed us our stats for the first two weeks and that was it. How the hell were we supposed to know our areas of improvement when we don't know how we are doing?
Facilities were really horrible. I don't know if it was just me. But I heard lots of people complaining about the facilities. Computers don't work most of the time, and if it does, it gives out faint audio which makes it hard to hear the caller. The worst part of this is that if you happen to be using such a computer and you're being monitored by the Quality Department, you fail the call for asking the caller for the city and state again! We also got stuck in the building's elevator twice!!! Well, you get the picture. I won't bore you anymore with the other details.
So anyway, we decided to apply for another company. And this is what got me hectic. Recruitment required us to come to their office everyday for typing practice. I applied for a position that requires 60 net words per minute using touch typing. So I went there everyday from 10am to 4pm for practice, afterwhich I had to go to work at 7pm til 4am. I was pooped all last week but it was all worth the effort. I passed the typing certification and got the job offer yesterday! Yahoo! I appreciated the recruitment people there. They were so nice to the applicants and you are not the only one exerting the effort to join their company, but they also exert effort to have you use their state of the art facilities to practice your ass off before the certification! nice huh! So there.
Enough about work. Wedding preparations were put on hold a bit, but I was able to buy my wedding shoes already! and for less than P500, P410 to be exact! I love my shoes, its comfy and it does not hurt my feet! :-) Also, our luminaries are finished - at long last! Next in line are our invites. Tomorrow I am going to get our birth certificates at NSO. I hope the line isn't long.
That's it for now. I'll post pictures as soon as I have them developed and scanned. :-)
